Free GST Invoicing & Accounting Software by Government

In a recent accouncement GST Network said it has started offering free GST accounting and GST billing software to MSMEs with annual turnover of up to Rs 1.5 crore. It is estimated that this move would benefit about 80 lakh small businesses.  So here is more information about Free GST Invoicing & Accounting Software by Government

As per statement by GSTN, this software would help businesses create invoices and account statements, manage inventory and prepare GST returns. The software is available under the ‘Download’ tab on the official GST portal

These software would be avalable for free only for 2 years, after which normal charges will be applicable for using the software

For providing these free software, GSTN has partnered with eight billing and accounting software vendors.

You currently have a choice of 8 products to choose from.These are available as a cloud based version as well as a downloadable, that installs on your desktop or laptop. You may choose any, depending on your preference.

Steps to download:

1. Login to the GST Portal using your login / password credentials.

2. Go to the “Downloads” menu and select the “Accounting and Billing Software” option.

3. You will need to declare that your turnover is < INR 1.5 Crores, after which you will be shown a choice of these 6 softwares.

4. The important aspects of the 8 softwares are shown in a table which will help you to make a decision and choose your software.

5. Click on the link against your preferred software.

6. You will then be redirected to the product site and further steps on its use will be provided by the product companies.

It may be noted that only the basic features of the software are Free for all other features payment may be applicable.
